Ghost Towns, Mines, and More!

A massive mill was built here in 1907. Ore from the mines was transported to the mill by a 14,000 foot long aerial tram. The mill was also served by the 17.5 mile long Silver Peak Railroad. All that remains today are foundations of the mill and town buildings, and the crumbling ruins of a few buildings that were made of low-grade concrete. Traces of the town’s streets can still be found along with foundations and other artifacts.

My first visit to Blair was in 1987. In 2002 I shot some aerial photos of the site using a rocket. I returned again in 2019 and shot extensive video and still photography, using a drone as well as ground based cameras.
