March 2016 Anza-Borrego Trip
March 2016 Anza-Borrego Trip
I used to camp and hike in the Anza-Borrego desert area all the time, but due to family obligations I haven’t been out there for several years. In late March 2016 my friend John came down from WA to visit, and we took a two-day trip out to the desert.
Left: On the way out there, we stopped in at a site in the mountains east of Pine Valley. Here, Cris and I had planted a living Christmas tree about 20 years ago. As you can see, the tree is thriving and is now about 35-40 feet tall.
Below: We also stopped at the famous Desert View Tower. It was closed, so we couldn’t go inside. Unfortunately the current owner has allowed the building to deteriorate quite a bit. The roof and windows of the observation deck are falling apart.
