Ghost Towns, Mines, and More!
The Bronze Mine is in the eastern Mojave Desert, in the upper reaches of a canyon at an elevation of 5840 feet. There is a single cabin here, and the ruins of a second cabin.
A short distance away is a large wooden ore bin. A curved trestle connects the mine and the bin. The mine was in production for a short period in 1951, producing ore containing copper, lead, silver and zinc. The portal of the mine has caved in. Nearby is a steel-framed, corrugated metal shack which was the blacksmith’s shop.
There are a few interesting artifacts here, including an old bulldozer and a pickup truck made from a WWII army ambulance.
