Ghost Towns and Mines

This was originally a schoolhouse. Later it was converted to a boarding house. I suspect that the wooden addition was added at that time, but I can’t confirm this. The mix of brick and aged wood makes this a very photogenic structure, but it is falling apart at an increasing rate. In the early 1990s it still had most of the roof over the brick portion; now only a few rafters remain. The bricks are deteriorating around the base of the building, many bricks are missing or decayed, and there are serious cracks in the wall.

Updated August 2015.
