The In-ko-pah Railroad

This simple building is part of the Mineral Ridge Mine and Mill complex. Mining requires frequent testing (assaying) of ore samples to determine the quality of the ore. The assayer’s work is typically performed in a small building such as this one, using furnaces and other equipment.

My assay office is made of 6mm thick Sintra PVC board, laminated with sheets of real, galvanized, corrugated steel from Rainbow Ridge. This metal was generously provided by an anonymous donor.

My model of the assay office is still under construction, although it is mostly complete. The work that remains to be done on it, includes building stairs to the door, weathering, adding lights, and a simplified interior.
