Ghost Towns and Mines
Ghost Towns and Mines
This huge ore bin stands as a lonely sentinel near the mouth of Mazourka Canyon. It’s located near the old roadbed of the Southern Pacific Narrow Gauge RR, and I wondered if it had once been served by a spur from the mainline. However, I could detect no trace of a roadbed leading to the bin.
The canyon road leads to several mines up in the mountains. On this trip (August 2008) I didn’t have time to explore further.
