Ghost Towns and Mines

Until the early 1990s there were several buildings in the mining camp. When I first visited this site, the mine office had been badly damaged by vandals, but was still standing even as late as 1990. The bunkhouse and mess hall were also damaged but in better shape. These were blown up by vandals using stolen dynamite sometime around 1993. (Documents posted in the one remaining building state that this destruction took place in 1989, however I have photos from the early ‘90s that show these buildings still standing.)

Currently the only building remaining at the site is the superintendent’s house, which has been refurbished and maintained by volunteers under the BLM’s “Adopt A Cabin” program.
