This small town on Highway 395 is one of several in the Rand mining district. The Kelly Mine located at the south end of town lies in ruins and is fenced off and guarded against trespassers. In the 1960’s they used to run tours down into the mine. Now its tall steel headframe lies in a twisted heap on its side. Sometime in the past couple years it either collapsed or was pulled down.
