Ghost Towns, Mines, and More!

This page is dedicated to various abandoned or historic ranch buildings in the Reese River Valley area of central Nevada. Some of them date back to the first pioneers in the region.

Posted August 2015.

Because there is so much to see at this site, I’ve decided to provide a separate page for certain buildings. Below you’ll see a few photos of each structure. Clicking on any of these will take you to that structure’s page, where you will be able to see many more photos showing all details of the structure and its surroundings.

Reese River Valley, NV:  “White Ranch”

I don’t know the real name of this site, but I’m calling it the White Ranch because the house and barn are painted white.

Reese River Valley, NV:  O’Toole Ranch

This ranch is occupied, but I was able to get some photos of this windmill and beautiful brick building. I’m not sure of the building’s purpose but I think it may have been use to protect the water tank from freezing in winter.

Reese River Valley, NV:  “Adobe Ranch”

This is site is known as the “Old Dyer Place”, and was later owned by the Walsh family. The large, adobe ranch house is quite amazing and must have been a real beauty in its prime. The round brick base for a water tank is an interesting feature.

Reese River Valley, NV:  The Hess Ranch

The Hess Ranch is a stunning site with numerous adobe, stone, brick and wooden buildings. The “star” attraction is a two-story, sixteen-room brick ranch house built in 1910.
