Ghost Towns and Mines
Ghost Towns and Mines
Several of the most important mines in Tonopah have been preserved as part of the Tonopah Historic Mining Park. Here you can take a self-guided walking tour of the old mine structures and facilities. You can walk across a 200-foot deep stope, on a specially-constructed bridge of steel grid, and look past your feet right into the depths of the mine. The preserved buildings and mining equipment may be of special interest to modelers. Photos of the structures are on this page. Photos of some of the equipment can be found on my Vintage Machinery page.
