Ghost Towns and Mines
Ghost Towns and Mines
The mines here are of little interest, but the cabin is a nice find. Both the mines and cabin belong to the Nevada Turquoise Mining Company and comprise the “Turquoise Bonanza” group of claims, according to a handwritten sign. The original cabin was built in the winter of 1945. I believe this was the north end of the current structure, the south end having been added at some later date. The cabin was built by C. T. “Ted” Johnson, Sr. and the claims are owned by his grandsons.
It looks like it’s been a while since anyone camped inside the cabin, and unfortunately the interior and furnishings have been damaged by rats and mice.
