Ghost Towns and Mines

This mine is located in the Nopah Range, east of Tecopa, CA. It was a lead mine, part of the Tecopa group of mines, and operated from 1912 until 1957. These mines were served by the Tecopa Railroad, which brought in supplies and hauled the ore away for processing.

The War Eagle Mine’s tunnels extend all the way through the mountain, connecting to an adit on the east side. The huge ore bin sits on the western flanks of the mountain. There is some evidence that it once had a funicular incline to lower the ore down to bottom of the slope, just as the Noonday and Gunsight mines did.

Other mines in the area include the Noonday Mine, the Columbia Mine, and the Gunsight Mine.
