Bristol Charcoal Kilns, NV

These large beehive-shaped charcoal kilns were built at Bristol Well, NV in the 1870s. They were used to produce charcoal for the smelter that processed ore from the Bristol Silver Mine. The kilns are made from sandstone with a greenish tint. There are reports that there were originally four kilns, but one was later dismantled. I believe the stones from that fourth kiln were used to create one of the stone buildings at Bristol Well.

Other nearby sites include Bristol Well, NV and the Bristol West Mine, NV.

I visited the Bristol Charcoal Kilns in July 2024.
