Bristol Well, NV

Bristol Well, NV was founded in 1872 to serve the Bristol Silver Mine located four miles away in the Bristol Range. The well provided water for the town at the mine, and a smelter was built at Bristol Well to process the mine's ore. Around the same time three (possibly four) stone charcoal kilns were built to provide charcoal for the smelter. It's hard to get accurate information about the history of Bristol Well, since most sources seem to conflate Bristol Well and the town of Bristol at the mine.

Currently there are two stone buildings at Bristol Well, plus a large slag pile and the stone foundation of either a mill or smelter. The charcoal kilns are not far away but I've given them their own page. I recently found out that there is a small pioneer cemetery near Bristol Well, but I haven't seen it yet.

Other nearby sites include the Bristol Charcoal Kilns and the Bristol West Mine, NV.

I visited Bristol Well, NV in July 2024.
