Daveytown, NV

The Alabama Mine is located in Silver State Valley east of the Slumbering Hills in northern Nevada. In 1910 gold was discovered in the Slumbering Hills, first at the Alabama Mine and soon other mines followed. A small mill was built at Daveytown to process ore from the Davey Mine.

By 1918 the Alabama Mine had shut down. Sporadic, small-scale work continued off and on until 1941. In 1935 the Jumbo Mine was discovered, setting off a new flurry of activity. As of June 2024 the only things left at Daveytown are a dilapidated building, a water tank, and concrete foundations of the mill.

Other sites I visited in this area are the Alabama Mine, the Jumbo Shaft, the Jumbo Mine, and the Spanish Girl Mine.

I visited this site in June 2024.
