Geddes-Bertrand Mill, NV

In 1880 the Geddes and Bertrand Company built a mill and furnace to process ore from their mines in Secret Canyon, near Eureka, NV. The Geddes and Bertrand Company remained active until the mill burned on August 15, 1886.

The mill ruins feature some impressive stone foundations and a few artifacts, plus a massive tailings pile.

Tunnels have been dug into the tailings pile in two places. I'm not sure why anyone would do this. Perhaps they were trying to see if there were any tailings with enough residual gold to make it worth reprocessing.
