Golconda, NV
Golconda isn't a ghost town but it has a few interesting, historical buildings. Golconda began as a station on the Central Pacific Railroad in 1868. In 1897 A new townsite was laid out and a concentrating plant and smelter were built to process ores from the mines at Adelaide. A narrow gauge railroad, the Golconda & Adelaide Railroad, was built to haul the ore to the plant and smelter. However, the ore proved difficult to process and in 1911 the plant was dismantled. The G&A Railroad was removed in 1914.
I visited this site in June 2024.
