Miner's Gold Mine, NV

The Miner's Gold Mine is in the Gold Circle district, near Midas, NV. The district was formed when gold was found in 1907, sparking a big gold rush. Numerous claims were staked and the town of Midas sprang up. At its peak in 1908 the population was about two thousand, but quickly dropped down to about 250 people.

The generally low quality of the ore combined with high shipping costs doomed most of the mines. Today the hills and canyons around Midas are dotted with shafts, adits, and waste rock piles. This mine is the only one I found that still has any significant structures remaining. It also has some very cool original equipment. The entrance of the mine is caved in, but there is a long track extending from the mine out to the end of a colorful and impressive waste rock dump.

I visited this mine in June 2024.
