North Fork, NV

North Fork, NV began in 1870 as a stage station along the road to Mountain City, NV. Gradually, more people moved here to establish ranches, and by 1889 North Fork had a post office, a saloon, a grocery store, and a school. The saloon and store continued to thrive as stage traffic gave way to automobiles.

But eventually the little town withered, and the post office closed in 1944. Currently a decrepit log building and the stone ruins of the store are still standing alongside the highway.

I visited North Fork, NV in August 2024.
