Sierra Talc Mine, CA

The Sierra Talc Mine is located in the Talc City Hills north of Darwin, CA. It was a relatively minor producer of steatite talc compared to the nearby Talc City Mine. The only structure remaining at the site is a badly damaged headframe. Below the headframe are the ruins of the shaft collar, and below that there is a wide pit. Use caution when exploring this mine. The area in and near the pit is extremely dangerous! The ground surrounding the pit is undermined in places and could collapse. In the bottom of the pit a small hole is the only visible sign of a shaft that is about 130 feet deep.

Other mines in the Talc City Hills include the Alliance Talc Mine, the Silver Dollar Mine, and the Talc City Mine.
