South Park Mine CA

South Park Mine, CA

So far I haven't found any information on this mine. I'm calling it the South Park Mine because it's located in the South Park area of the Panamint Range.

I visited the South Park Mine, CA a couple times in the 1990s and revisited it in June 2024.

An aerial view of the South Park Mine and camp.

This is the only building still standing at the camp of the South Park Mine. There's also a shed that has collapsed. There used to be a cabin when I was here in the 1990s but it has burned down since then.

This is the lower adit of the mine. The building houses a diesel-powered air compressor.

Looking back towards the entrance of the mine.

There is an inclined shaft high on the hillside above the main entrance of the mine. This appears to be an older section of the mine, and it had a small aerial tram to transport ore down the hill.

Old machinery and wooden debris are spread around near the inclined shaft. There is a section of track not directly connected to the shaft. It appears that ore and waste rock would be hauled up from the shaft, then dumped into a cart. Ore would go to the aerial tram at one end of the track, and waste rock would be dumped at the other end.

At this end of the track are the ruins of a loading facility for the aerial tram.

The ruins of the upper end of the aerial tram. The metal hopper was probably used to load ore into the tram buckets.

The compressor is powered by a diesel engine. The whole thing is mounted on a heavy-duty chassis. There are axles under it, but no wheels or suspension.
